"I'm so excited to share with you a new class series that I have been thinking about doing for quite some time now and I think you will all love it. Introducing my new Monthly Mixed Media Technique Journal...
I'll be kicking off the first
month with this new mixed media journal by Prima. We will start by playing with
various misting solutions and learn how they react to different surfaces
including resist canvas, decorative tape, and heavy mulberry paper. We will also
play with some gel medium and modeling paste along with some great stencils and
everyday items to add texture and dimension. Then we will finish off the covers
by making our own handmade flowers and embellishments and lots of fun
findings.
Then we will turn to the
inside covers and tip our hats to the sweet and talented Christy Tomlinson. I'll
show you how to incorporate Christy's fun artsy way of building a mixed media
background while still incorporating your every day scrapbooking. We will play
with more gel medium by embedding book text and patterned paper by Basic Grey.
We will also play with acrylic paint, india ink, and Faber Castell's Big Brush
Pens to add more texture and dimension and we will finish it off with some
good-ol'-fashioned doodling.
Then bring your journal back
each month and we will continue to add to the inside pages of the journal as we
focus on a particular medium and all the different ways to use them. Here are
just a few of the topics to come:
Tim Holtz Distress Line - Ink
Pads, Reinkers, Stain, Markers
Misting Solutions - Pigment Sprays, Shimmer Sprays, DIY Sprays
The Art Supply Store - Paint, Gel Medium, Modeling Paste, Pastels, India Ink
Alcohol Inks - Ranger Alcohol Ink, Copics
Flowers & Embellishments - How to Make Your Own

Choose to use your journal
completely as a reference guide and inspiration journal or turn it into an
amazing art journal complete with your personal photos for everyone to see. Each
month you will receive step-by-step instruction sheets that you can store right
inside your journal for a quick reference guide.
So join me this Sunday, March
25th from 2-5pm at Scrapbook Daisies in Long Beach for my first installment in
this amazing series. Subsequent classes will be held on the last Sunday of every
month at the same time. Join the series at any time and take any or all the
classes you'd like. If you're interested in signing up for this technique-filled
series, call Tony at (562) 377-0302 to reserve your spot. Act fast! They are
only 8 spots left! Hope to see you in class!"

Tony
and I have received a few emails and phone calls today with questions about this
class series, so I thought I would answer them here for you.
Dates
& Times:
Classes will be held from 2-5pm on the last Sunday of each month beginning this Sunday, March 25th. The classes will tentatively run through September. So here are the dates: April 29th, May 27th, June 24th, July 29th, August 26th, September 30th.

Questions:
-
Do I have to "subscribe" to the whole program? No, there is no obligation to
attend all the classes. Pick and choose any class you'd like. However, the
journal is only included in the first session. After that you can choose to add
on the first session as a make up class... which leads me to the next
question...
- What if I can't make it to a class that I want to take? I can arrange for a make up day during the week (typically a Wednesday) or you can add that class when it comes around again in the next series.
- What if I have a friend who wants to sign up later in the series but missed the first couple of classes? Each month's registration is open to everyone. So you or your friend can join at any time. You would start that month and pick up the classes you've missed that next time the series comes around again.

Supplies
List:
The supplies list will differ slightly each month depending on what topic or medium is covered that month. I will provide everything you need in class for you to experiment and play. I want to give you the opportunity to learn how to use in class before you decide to invest in it. So, please don't ever feel that you have to go out and buy something you are not sure you want to invest in yet. However, you already own the items on each month's list it would be helpful if you bring them to class so you don't have to wait to share items. With that being said here is the first month's class:

What kind of journal do you buy if you don't take the first class to go to the second one.
Also there is one scheduled for when the retreat is?
