October's Journaling challenge....let's strip!

Ok, get your mind out of the gutter ladies...I know what you are thinking!

Have you checked out DT girl Tanya (aka crazeergirl's) journaling challenge for this month! Yep, you guessed it...journling strips. I know, you were begining to wonder! Here is the challenge!

This month, I am challenging you to do some journaling with strips:
Tanya's Layout:

But this is about more than just journaling strips. You have to do something to your strips to make them more fun! As a matter of fact, YOU HAVE TO DO (at least) THREE DIFFERENT THINGS TO YOUR STRIPS FOR THIS CHALLENGE!
Here are some ideas (don't feel you are limited to these, come up with your own ideas if you like):
mat them on another paper
tilt them...
add some bling
add some flowers...
underline some of the words
background stamp them
ink them...
spray them with mist
distress them
hand sew on them
let somebody else write them
machine sew them...
Got the idea?

Here is Tanya's journaling strips:

I tilted them, matted them, cut one side of them with pinking shears, added some bling and I used two different patterned papers for them!

What can you do with yours? Don't be shy!
Layouts for this challenge need to be newly created between October 1st and the last day of the month.
The projects must be linked to this thread by midnight PST on the last day of the month to be entered in the RAK drawing.
The winner will be drawn shortly after the end of the month. You get one entry to the RAK per layout uploaded.
We'd also love to see your layout in the gallery too, but it is not required.

Here is what I did with the journaling strip challenge!

October's Tutorial Challenge!

I love fabric and it looks so good on scrapbooking layouts. So I have this tutorial for you. Play along for a chance to win a past kit from Martha. Here is the tutorial and remember to post your layouts in the October 1st Tutorial thread under "Monthly Design Team Challenges". Here is the link and here is my tutorial!

http://www.scrapbookdaisies.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=5852

Decide what you want to create and pick your fabric. I stared off by picking these two, but ended up changing my fabric and my design. So, you will see some changes in my pictures as we go. I cut my design with my Silhouette, but you can use anything you want to create your design, you can even free hand it!

Trace your design on the back of your fabric. Remember you need a front and a back. Then cut them out.

Sew your pieces together. I liked doing it so the stitching was showing. It made my tree a little more unique looking. Make sure you leave an openig so that you can stuff your design.

Then I stuffed my tree and trunk and stitched the openings up. I also decorated my tree and quilted around some of the flowers.

Here is the layout I used my tree on.

So, are you participating in this? Check it out here!

I can't wait to see what you girls do!

yes, we do have rocking awesome challenges!

I am pretty much srapbooking-crazee, and I have layouts all over the walls of my office. So many people ask me "where do you get all of your ideas?" The answer is simple: CHALLENGES!

This layout about my daughter and her 2nd grade teacher would not exist if it hadn't been for Michelle's color challenge. You can find her chalenge here:
http://www.scrapbookdaisies.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=5859

All of the chatter that we have been doing about our die-cut machines is really inspiring me too! I cut the tree with my Cricut using the Cindy Loo cartridge.

So come on over and try a challenge...or 3, or 5!

"Lytle" Store Samples

Hey Daisies! It's Ly here! I have been a busy bee making some pages with the gorgeous papers available at Scrapbook Daisies...

This was another page I made using my Scrapbook Daisies September Life is Good Kit with papers by Echo Park. Don't you just love those rolled paper flowers? Stay tuned tomorrow for a video on how to make them yourself!

This one was made with My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup's Girl line... take a closer look at how I altered the diecut sheet!

Here's and early photo of Kyla... only 53 days old in this one! This is the My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Madison Avenue. Don't you just love that medallion at the top... I glimmer misted a doily with some tulle and made a rosette using Tim Holtz's new die and I topped it off with some layered stickers from the collection.

Have you even started thinking about Christmas yet? It's just around the corner! This was a picture of Kyla's First Christmas... only 38 days old! This is the My Mind's Eye I Believe collection. I cut out several of the ornaments and wreaths (I thought about you Linda while I was doing this!) and pop dotted them... and there's that Tim Holtz Rosette die again!

I've got a few more in the works so stay tuned tomorrow for a few more!

Opening Day!

Scrapbook Daisies will open it doors TODAY! Come on by and check out the new store! The festivities will continue tomorrow both in-store and online! Stop by the store tomorrow from 12-4 PM and join us for make and takes and cake OR join our Design Team online for our Opening Celebration Online Crop as we chat on our Message Board and on Facebook with hourly games and prizes, challenges and inspirational layouts, and of course, the play-by-play of what's happening at the store!

Here's a sample of the card you'll get to make with Ly using papers by Imaginisce:

Here's a sample of the one page layout you'll get to make with Nicole using papers by Prima:

Stay tuned tomorrow for videos of the make and takes and a store tour with Martha!

It's the first...

With the new store, the new message board, and the new name... the DT Daisies got together and decided that we ALSO needed a fresh NEW format to our monthly Challenges!!!

SO...Starting on October 1st, there will be a new SIMPLIFIED way to participate in the challenges each month!!!!

Here is the Scoop:

On the 1st of every month, there will be 5 challenges presented to the board. This will get your month started and give you scrappy ideas and inspiration. The challenges will be:

SKETCH
JOURNALING
USE YOUR STASH
SCRAP LIFT A MEMBER
COLOR INSPIRATION

In addition to these 5 challenges, there will also be a tutorial presented by one of the DT members. This will also give you ideas and inspiration...and there may even be a challenge along with the tutorial...you never know!

For the remainder of each month, there will be 2 more sketch challenges and 1 more tutorial presented to the board on the 10th, 15th and 20th... and again...these will provide you with ideas and inspiration.

Here is the FUN PART!!!!

You will have ALL MONTH LONG to complete all of these challenge in order to qualify for an entry into the Prize RAK at the end of each month!!! How SUPER COOL is THAT!!!???

Here is cool layout from DT member Seppa. She has a fab tutorial on how to make that super cool tree that you don't want to miss. You can check it out here.

See you there!!
